Poteau Valley Humane Society

A Non-Profit Organization chartered under the laws of the State of Oklahoma in 1995 and licensed by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture License # 0002.

Mission Statement

Poteau Valley Humane Society is dedicated to relieving the pain and suffering of animals through educational efforts as well as direct intervention. We believe that the neglect of the local animals is a community problem and it deserves a community solution.

Objective

To enable the community to provide humane treatment to the animals that would otherwise be neglected, mistreated or killed.

Goals

Provide proactive educational programs to the community concerning the health, spaying and neutering, nutrition and humane treatment of animals. Provide an effective avenue for the adoption of neglected and unwanted animals. Rescue as many animals as possible from neglect, abuse, abandonment and death.

We Need Volunteers

We need energetic and concerned people who are willing to help the Poteau Valley Humane Society reach their goals and objectives. There are many levels of involvement ranging from foster care of the animals to fundraising efforts. We need help in creating and publishing a newsletter and in many other different ways. Your volunteer efforts can make all the difference in saving an animal from neglect, abuse, abandonment and even death. Volunteers must be 18 yrs of age or between 12 and 17 yrs of age can be accompanied at the shelter by parent or guardian.

Donations

Your tax-deductible donations provides the means to help the animals with food and medical care. Without your donations, we could not be there to help those animals that need us the most.

Corporate Sponsors

Your business can sponsor Poteau Valley Humane Society with your tax-deductible donation of money,  supplies and services. We will endeavor to provide sponsors with acknowledgment of the donations by listing you on our web site, newsletter, flyers and any other promotional material where we can express our gratitude for your support. Sponsorship of the Poteau Valley Humane Society is a great way to give back to the community.

A Word from our President

With your help and support, we're on our way to a time when every dog or cat born in this great town can be guaranteed a good home. Because of all who care about the animals, we are building a future that will be rooted in caring, compassion and kindness to animals which helps to build a better community for all of us. May all good things be yours in return for your present and future generosity.
